Prepare Your Home for Spring!

The sun is finally out, we’re officially enjoying this warmth, and it’s no thanks to Punxsutawney Phil! Accompanied with this glorious sunshine and warmth is the infamous Spring cleaning, of course.

Let’s face it, there are only a select few people on this Earth that enjoy Spring cleaning. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of chores and tasks there are to get done daily. From tackling that month-old pile of laundry on your bedroom chair to preparing your colorful landscaping, adulting seems like the absolute most during this season. Plus, after the winter the Inland Northwest just had, it can be a challenge to spring home maintenance into gear.

Spring home maintenance doesn’t have to be as labor intensive as you might think. At Architerra, we like to make every part of the home owning experience as simple as possible. That’s why we’ve created a list of the top 4 essential tips for getting your new home ready for Spring!

Read further to see how you can get a start on your chores this season:

Tip #1: Inspect and Clean Your Windows

Winter weather can leave windows dirty and may have caused damage such as cracks or gaps in seals. Clean both the interior and exterior of your windows to allow more natural light into your home.

Tip #2: Service Your HVAC System

Spring is a great time to service your HVAC system to ensure it’s operating efficiently for the warmer months ahead. Change air filters, clean vents and ducts, and schedule a professional inspection and maintenance service to catch any issues early and keep your system running smoothly.

Tip #3: Inspect and Test Safety Devices

Spring is a good time to inspect and test safety devices in your new home. Check smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers to ensure they’re functioning correctly and replace batteries if necessary. Additionally, consider testing security alarms, motion sensors, and outdoor lighting to ensure your home is safe and secure as the days get longer.

Tip #4: Prepare Your Outdoor Spaces

Get your outdoor spaces ready for spring by cleaning up debris, pruning trees and shrubs, and prepping your lawn and garden beds. Consider adding fresh mulch to garden beds, planting new flowers or vegetables, and refreshing outdoor furniture and decor. Don’t forget to test and clean your outdoor lighting and irrigation systems as well!

By following these essential tips, you can ensure that your home is ready to embrace the joys of spring while maintaining its safety, comfort, and functionality. At Architerra, we’re committed to simplifying the homeownership experience and helping you make the most of your living space.
